Change your life, become a Padi dive instructor.

The Padi instructor training or PADI IDC is one of the most intense courses you’ll ever take. For this reason, it is quite important to choose an IDC center that you can trust, where you will feel comfortable and at home. At BB Divers we will give you a great training with a thorough preparation, but not forgetting the fun on the way. Our learning environment is very relaxed, it is what you expect of Thailand, the lifestyle of this great country, but with training up to international standards. We will be focusing on your strengths and reinforce the areas that are necessary to develop your own identity and style as a dive professional. At BB Divers, we wish to create dive instructors who will be ready to start teaching and not just being successful at the Padi IE (instructor exam).

IDC Course Summary

The PADI Instructor Development course (IDC) schedule is either a full 14 day IDC “life” in Koh Kood. Or you can attend half of your IDC online from home before coming over the island, where we will train the second half with mostly in water training in pool and open sea. This is perfect for IDC candidates who are working or have limited vacation time.

The PADI IDC will train you how to “Think like an instructor” from day one.

As a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor you will be able to teach most of the Padi courses. You can extend your instructor level with the specialty instructor training to be able to teach even more!

Your PADI Course Director will take you through classroom workshops, either online or in-person which cover learning instruction and the PADI system. You will learn how to schedule and set up your own courses from entry-level to divemaster, plan logistics, schedule, manage risk and make judgment calls. There will be daily confined water or open water presentations in which you will learn how to control and solve student problems, whilst fine tuning your own general diving skills and rescue skills to demonstration quality.

Course structure:

1/Theory preparation:

Complete the PADI IDC eLearning before attending the IDC. The eLearning covers 16 subjects ranging from how to conduct and schedule all PADI courses, managing risk, classroom and in-water training.

2/Your live or online IDC theory training:

The theory part, 8 days.

Each day your Course Director will hold workshops based on the eLearning you have already completed. The classes are interactive. You are encouraged to join in by sharing your stories and local knowledge specific to your region and eventually teach your own presentations and help each other with dive theory. These live sessions are fun and a great way to get to know your fellow candidates.

Daily ‘Homework’ is to be completed for the following day’s session it will include online practice exams and preparing your own teaching presentations.

Day 8 of your IDC theory is dedicated to the EFR Instructor theory. The hands-on skills and exam section of this course are completed the same time as the in-water section of the IDC.

3/ You in-water work, 6 days:

The in-water section of your IDC will take place in our dive center in Koh Kood.  Here, you will practice confined water and open water presentations, skills circuits, rescue and deep scenarios, DSD in confined and open water and more. All the theory which you’ve studied will fall in place once you can put your new knowledge in action with teaching action.

Once the IDC training is completed, candidates will join the Padi IE, this takes place on scheduled dates, either in Koh Kood, Bangkok or Pattaya. Here you will be evaluated and pass the final exams to be a PADI DIVE INSTRUCTOR!

We are looking forward to meeting you in person and support you on your instructor journey.
