Snorkeling sites

Snorkeling Sites Await Exploration on the Spectacular Koh Kood Island. Immerse Yourself in Pristine Waters and Encounter Colorful Marine Life!

Snorkeling sites

Popular snorkeling and dive spots

The BB Divers’ boats typically head out to the colorful local sites around Koh Kood, or we make our way to the protected coral sites in Koh Rang National Park.

The Koh Kood sites are popular because of the healthy reef and shallow depths, quite often the water is super clear, especially in high season. The reefs are all very close so it makes for a lovely day out with early return.

Koh Rang national park is a group of islands where fishing is not allowed. It offers an abundance of marine life and very healthy coral reefs. On our trips there we make a stop near a beach as well, some time to relax or snorkel near the reef.

On some days we also have the trip to the exciting wreck HTMS Chang and Koh Chang coral sites. The wreck and close coral sites in this area are also great snorkeling as long as we have calm sea. With wavy weather we do not snorkel here, but in high season we have lovely snorkeling in these spots.

1.Koh Kood sites

The Koh Kood sites are quite shallow but usually clear water and great healthy corals. We can dive around Koh Kood and to Koh Rang national park all year, high and low season.

Description of dive sites from north to south

On the West side of Koh Kood:

Tui Reef (Ao Phuk Waeng)

This rocky site offers a picturesque landscape and a diverse array of coral. Positioned at the northern tip of the island, it occasionally hosts schools of fish seeking shelter, creating a spectacular sight.

Koh Maisi

Abundant rocks and boulders characterize this site, providing an attractive seascape. Among the rocks and coral reef, one can encounter stonefish, eels, stingrays, nudibranchs, anemone fish, cleaning shrimp, and more.

Soneva Reef (Salak Aoun)

Two beautiful coral reefs adjacent to each other, boasting a wide variety of marine life including groupers, angelfish, pufferfish, scorpionfish, shrimps, bannerfish and turtles. The spots offer stunning views of the bay.

Koh Raet

This island presents different dive sites nestled between Koh Raet and Koh Kood, providing shelter for snorkeling, discover scuba diving, and regular dives. Notable sightings include stingrays, moray eels, various small coral fish, catfish, goatfish, razorfish, sepia, lionfish and more. At around 4 meters, there are statues of different animals adorned with beautiful corals, attracting reef fish and adding to the spectacle.

Hin Yedhi

This rocky spot boasts impressive coral reefs and is home to species like parrotfish, lionfish, jackfish, batfish and different kind of nudibranchs.

Ao Tum

A beautiful coral garden reef renowned for its wide variety of corals, particularly the large table corals and staghorn coral. Marine life sightings include fusiliers, porcupine fish, cobia, lionfish, stingrays, sweetlips, turtles, and yellowtail barracudas.

Bang Bao Reef

A perfect coral site suitable for snorkeling, refresh courses, Discover Scuba Dives, or night dives. Marine inhabitants include parrotfish, crabs, anemone fish, stingrays and occasionally seahorses.

On the East side of Koh Kood:

We snorkel the East side during our low season, when the west of Koh Kood is too wavy.

This side of Koh Kood is not accessible by road. During green season we use the pier of Ao Salad as departure point and we ‘ll take you to the dive sites around there. Once the boat is out, you will enjoy the impressive big Golden Buddha overlooking Ao Salad village. During the trip we get some stunning views of the shore with untouched jungle and wildlife, quite often we spot large eagles circling around hunting for prey.

Hin Ao Salad

A nice coral reef just off the Ao Salad Bay, bustling with marine life such as fusiliers, bannerfish, angelfish, and anemone fish. Unique sightings include the large sea star found exclusively on the east side of the island.

Ao Yai Koet

Great shallow coral reef with big boulders and the curious panda clownfish, sweetlips, fusilier, angelfish, scorpionfish, flounders and so much more.

Ao Kluai

A great coral reef with a nice variety of corals and his inhabitants: soldier fish, fusilier, angelfish, barracuda, turtle and occasionally, seahorses can be spotted inside large shells.

Hin Ao Yai

A beautiful pinnacle site just outside the bay of Ao Yai, offering sightings of groupers, stingrays, bannerfish, and scorpionfish.

Ao Karang

Situated on the southeast part of Koh Kood, this expansive site boasts beautiful hard and soft corals. Marine life includes anemone fish, cuttlefish, and occasional sightings of seahorses.

2. Koh Rang national park sites

Hin Gue duang (the pinnacle)

This spectacular pinnacle is the deepest dive around Koh Rang, a great multilevel site. The rock itself has a very special structure, it looks like an underwater cathedral. There are plenty of fish around it, not so much coral. Things to see are big barracuda, porcupine, groupers, triggerfish, turtle, nudibranchs, sweet lips, and schools of batfish. The currents here can be quite strong and unpredictable, but it is certainly worth the effort! Great site for photography.

Koh Thien West

This island has recovered nicely after a lot of its coral was destroyed many years ago. It is actually nice to see how the coral reef can recover once it catches on again and comes back better than before.  On the southside of the island there is the biggest formation of stag horn coral you’re likely to see, forming a stunning view and protection to an abundance of fish. A great snorkeling site.

Hin Kuak Ma (or three finger reef)

This is one of the greatest sites in Koh Rang national park. The south side is a rock wall, good to spot eels, nudibranchs, stone fish etc. The backside of the rock is a slope, covered in coral, and with an abundance of fish. Sometimes we spot a bamboo shark or turtle, every dive we see blue spotted stingrays, moray eels, blue ringed angelfish, parrotfish. Good snorkeling if there is no current.

Koh Yak and Koh Laun

These small islands are just next to each other and both are ringed with a very beautiful coral reef with a rich abundance of different coral fishes. Both islands are small enough to snorkel around; because of the shallow depths we have plenty of dive time. Many snorkelers’ favorite…

Koh Tong Lang and Koh Kra

The special-colored rocks offer nice crevices rich in fish life; the coral is very healthy and varied, big table corals, stag horn, anemones of all sizes and colors.

3.Koh Chang sites

We can visit the popular wreck HTMS Chang combined with Koh Chang sites only in high season, about once or twice a week. It is a longer trip but definitely worth the excursion.

HTMS Chang Shipwreck

On 22 November 2012, the HTMS Chang was intentionally sunk. The wreck rapidly became the most

popular dive site of Koh Chang, suited for snorkeling and diving. It now is an impressive artificial reef

teeming with marine life. Although the wreck is not a typical snorkeling site, there is so much fish on it

that experienced snorkelers will love it.

When visiting the wreck we combine with 2 coral sites, most popular being:

Hin Luk Bath

One of the premier coral sites around Koh Chang, Hin Luk Bath boasts a pinnacle that attracts an

abundance of shoaling fish. The coral is ringed around a rock pinnacle with marine life from a few

meters deep up to 20 meters of depth. This makes the site great for snorkeling and diving.

Hin Raab South (locals call it Hin Laab)

This rocky site boasts a diverse array of coral. Hi Raab usually has clear water which makes it a favorite

site to visit. The coral reef is spread out over the sandy bottom and around the rock, offering excellent

opportunities to spot turtles, batfish, stonefish, porcupine fish, stingrays, moray eels, and occasionally,

large barracuda. We have also had several sightings of whale sharks here. Soft coral abounds in this location.

Hin Tai nam (blueberry hill)

This site is located close to Hin Raab, a bare rock full of fish, on the southside there is a nice coral garden.

Hin Rua Tek (Banana Rock)

A rocky dive site, with nice crevices to search for shrimp, lobster, nudibranch, et cetera. There are big

table corals, gorgonian fans, soft corals, sponges and more. We do not visit this site often since the

visibility is less good than other sites around there, but on a clear day it is a brilliant site to explore.

Special: Island hopping combined with diving or snorkeling

During our peak season, which is from November to May, we can provide transfer between the islands of Koh Kood and Koh Chang. You have the option to snorkel or dive on our trip to Koh Rang National Park. Following excursion, you can switch boats, thus combining the activity and transfer to Koh Chang or Koh Kood. Please request in advance so we can check that the boats will meet on your planned date. This is a great way to optimize your travel time.

Our open, positive, and proactive approach helps us find ways to align your work environment with the culture and attitude you and your team aspire.
